I met Lydia during a former job in Antwerp’s Diamond industry. A Jewelry maker and teacher- I knew of her as a woman of few words.

As I shadowed her for this photo story, I understood why that is so.

Meticulous and organized, Lydia works like a swift machine, making next to no noise. While I prepare my lens, Lydia has already moved across her atelier twice, repeating the process of rolling down a metal sheet, for a ring.

Like painting, Jewelry-making is an Art. So I think until I ask Lydia about her choice of profession.

Do you think of yourself as an artist or Jewelry maker? A jeweler, she says.

I make jewelry to be worn. Without that, there is no point.
